2010-11 Heating Season Results!!!

NOTE:  I don’t know about you, but the recent winter on the coast of Maine was ”wicked” long, cold, and snowy.  So, I was surprised to find that our HDD (Heating Degree Day) total was about 5% less (read: warmer) than normal.  “Normal” is based on the HDD average since 1950 and leads me to a sobering conclusion:  You don’t have to wait for climate change, it’s already happening!

Space Heating only      = 77% reduction in use, saving …………                           $2,700

Electrical                         = 45% reduction in use, saving ………….                          +  $400

Total Energy (Heat + Electric) = 74% savings =      $3,100 * in Savings

* Based on current price of $3.50/gal.  Imagine the savings at $4.. $5.. $6/gal..??
