Duct tape

Myth #9:  Duct tape is for heating ducts.

Truth:  “Duck” not “Duct” tape was developed during World War 2 to keep ammunition boxes watertight (duck – water proof… get it?).  The grey duct tape sold everywhere is great stuff, but not on heat ducts, where it dries up, withers, and loses its seal in a few months.

Hot air heat ducts should always be sealed for efficiency with code approved aluminum duct tape or mastic.
